Description
The Derby Chamber of Commerce is proud to continue our long-standing tradition of supporting the young Airmen stationed at McConnell Air Force Base during the holiday season. Each year, McConnell’s leadership and First Sergeants work to ensure their 240 dormitory-dwelling Airmen, many of whom are away from home for the first time, feel a sense of belonging, community, and support.
This year, McConnell is coordinating its annual Airmen Holiday Drop, an effort designed to provide meaningful gifts and essentials to these young men and women who are unable to return home for Christmas. Their goal is to help lift spirits, create connection, and remind these Airmen that the Derby and Wichita communities care deeply about them.
How You Can Help
To support this effort, the Chamber will be collecting monetary donations from our members through the Chamber website. After donations close, we will present McConnell AFB with a single combined check on behalf of the Derby business community.

Why This Matters
As shared by Trysta Wall, wife of Wing Commander Col. Joe Wall, these young Airmen often struggle with being far from home, especially during the holidays. The Airmen Holiday Drop provides items they truly need and appreciate—gift cards, snacks, personal items, and small comforts that remind them they are valued members of our community. Your generosity helps reinforce that message.
